New Publication from the AIDA Network Scleritis Registry: Predictors of Ocular Complications in Non-infectious Scleritis

The study analyzed data from 154 patients with non-infectious scleritis and highlighted the significant burden of ocular complications associated with the disease, including cataract, scleral and corneal thinning, and glaucoma. Researchers identified granulomatosis with polyangiitis (GPA), concomitant uveitis, and higher disease severity scores as major predictors of complications and poorer visual outcomes. These findings reinforce the importance of early diagnosis, close monitoring, and prompt treatment strategies in patients at higher risk of vision-threatening disease progression.
