New Publication: AIDA Network Data on Imaging Findings in Axial Spondyloarthritis with Recurrent Fever
We are pleased to announce the publication of a new scientific article based on data from the AIDA Network Spondyloarthritis Registry. The study explores the imaging features of patients with axial spondyloarthritis (axial SpA) presenting with recurrent fever, a manifestation that reflects the mixed autoimmune and autoinflammatory nature of this disease.

In this international, multicenter retrospective study, we evaluated 57 patients with axial SpA and recurrent fever, compared with 30 axial SpA patients without febrile episodes. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) revealed a high prevalence of sacroiliac joint (SIJ) inflammation and structural damage in both groups. Among febrile patients, the most frequent findings were bone marrow edema (78.9%) and erosions (85.9%). We also observed that enthesitis of the pubic symphysis, vertebral body corner sclerosis, zygapophyseal capsulitis, and interspinous enthesitis were significantly different between patients with and without fever.
These results underline the importance of considering axial SpA among the differential diagnoses in patients with unexplained recurrent fever and inflammatory back pain. Our findings contribute to a better understanding of the radiological spectrum of axial SpA and highlight the role of the AIDA Network in advancing knowledge through collaborative research.
